21 Beneteau First 18 SE / Seascape 18 crews took part on August 26. and 27. in Slovenian Open Championship in Portorož. As usual, the Bay of Piran proved to be a very demanding race field. Short waves, gusts, wind shifts and very hot weather gave really some hard time to teams from Slovenia, Austria, Serbia and Slovakia. 12 of them were competing for the Slovenian National Champion title.
After first day and four races sailed, with four points the leaders were 2021 European Champions Little Devil / SLO 315 (Blaž Kmetec, Jure Jerkovič, Robert Zajc). Very close with 7 points, were Barely Legal / SLO 611 (Jure Jerman, Andraž in Dan Mihelin) and with 8 points Corna / SLO 106 (Peter Podunavac, Davorin Vuga) and this year’s european Champions Blue Sardina II (Dejan Presen, Denes Szilagyi).
The second day the battle continued. Barely Legal sailed a bit worse and there were three boats left in the battle for podium places. Blue Sardina II, Corna and Little Devil all had 16 points before the last start of the Championship. The last race was won by Tit Plevnik and Gal Potrč Pajk (Seascape Team / SLO 600), the fastest boat of the day 2, second placed were this weekend the best Austrians aboard Plan B / AUT 390 (Manuel Lagger, Felix Meixner), Blue Sardina II. was third. Corna and Little Devil finished 6. and 7.
And so, the medals went to:
1.) Blue Sardina II / SLO 080; Dejan Presen, Denes Szilagyi
2.) Corna / SLO 106; Peter Podunavac, Davorin Vuga
3.) Little Devil / SLO 315; Blaž Kmetec, Jure Jerkovič, Robert Zajc
